Macedonia

Macedonia or more correctly now Northern Macedonia (though when I visited it was The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), contributed one of the worlds greatest generals (the Greeks can't work out exactly where he came from but he was called Alexander of Macedon which is enough for me). Since then there is not a hell of a lot to say about the place.

When I paid my short visit to the place the most memorable thing was that crossing the short bridge from Greece to Macedonia there were swarms of midges, mosquitoes and flies only on the Macedonia side. How do the little blighters know they aren't allowed over the border? Quite bizarre.

All I saw in Macedonia was fields and farms and it all smelled like a farm and everyone looked like farmers, probably because they were. I think greater exploration is necessary some day, I wonder if there really is anything but farms in the country.

I don't think I took any pictures as a farm is a farm. If I discover something I previously overlooked I'll post it here.
