Tunisia

Tunisia is a beautiful country, with some interesting places. It has been used for so many films, it is difficult to recall them all. Most memorable are the Star Wars films and The English Patient.

There is a huge Roman amphitheatre, second in size only to the one in Rome.

The local men seemed to mostly be either talking, smoking or just chilling out. Sometimes they managed to do all three at the same time.

There are Ksours all over a Tunisia. They were originally used as home and storage areas, though these days, they are mostly used for film sets and as tourist sites.

There are Roman ruins all over the country and many are in extremely good condition. This was formerly the Roman province of Africa, from whence the continent got its name.

There seem to be Roman mosaics around almost every corner.

On the island of Djerba is what is reckoned to be the world's oldest functioning synagogue. The practices there are distinct and quite ancient themselves.

Quite a self-explanatory camel crossing sign.

Some interesting troglodytes can be found in the mountains.
