Wales

I have been to Wales several times and these are just some of the photos from more recent trips there.

Fishguard lower town has a quaint vibe and good views across the harbour, where we were able to see the ferry going to Ireland. There is an old fort in Fishguard with nice views across the Irish Sea.

Poethgain has a nice sheltered beach and slipway, with the ruins of an old factory on the hillside. As with most most beaches in Wales, we got talking to someone with their dog.

Abereiddy has a beach and nice coastline, though more famous for the Blue Lagoon, which is where the sea has come in to a former quarry. Some folk jump from the cliffs into the sea there.

Broadhaven has a pleasant beach, however it was the sky that day, that was more dramatic.

Barafundle Bay was a favourite on this trip. It had lovely sand in a sheltered cove and some more friendly dogs and people.

Pembrokeshire is famous for having so many castles and Pembroke Castle is an excellent example, as well as being Henry V's birthplace and the seat of the Tudor family.

Church Door Cove in Manorbier has this picturesque eroded archway but not much more, down some steps.

There were some impressive looking deer at Great Wedlock. There were even red deer that were white.

We did an hour long boat trip around Ramsey Island which belongs to the RSPB and is home to various nesting birds, as well as seals. The channel through which a fast tide flows is often home to little porpoises. All of which, we were fortunate enough to see.

Carew Castle is another good looking castle near to Pembroke.

Cardigan Island coastal path has nice views across to the island from the mainland, as well as potential viewings of seals and dolphins.

Llanerchaeron is an elegant Georgian villa, designed by architect John Nash in 1790, complete with a walled garden, farmyard lake and wild parkland.

Mwnt beach is a popular, scenic coastal area known for its sheltered cove, wildlife including dolphins and the Church of the Holy Cross.
